Your safety matters.

Mingle Meetup IRL is about real connections through shared activities. Meeting new people should be fun - and we want to make sure it stays that way. This page covers how to protect yourself online and in person, how to report concerns, and where to get help.

Before you meet

Take your time getting to know someone before agreeing to meet in person.

  • Chat through the app before sharing personal contact details.
  • Do a quick search - a reverse image search on profile photos can flag fake accounts.
  • Tell a friend or family member who you are meeting, where, and when.
  • Arrange your own transport to and from the meeting.
  • Keep your plans flexible - you are never obligated to stay.

When you meet

  • Meet in a public place - a café, a park, a venue. Not a private address.
  • Stay sober enough to make clear decisions.
  • Keep your phone charged and with you.
  • Share your live location with someone you trust.
  • If something feels wrong, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.

Protecting your personal information

  • Do not share your home or work address early in a conversation.
  • Be cautious about sharing your full name, social media profiles, or phone number until you feel comfortable.
  • Never send money to someone you have not met in person, regardless of the reason they give.
  • Be wary of anyone who avoids video calls or refuses to meet in person after extended conversation.

Recognising red flags

Trust your instincts. Some behaviours to watch out for:

  • Pressure to move the conversation off the app quickly.
  • Requests for money, gift cards, or financial help.
  • Stories that do not add up, or profiles that seem too good to be true.
  • Excessive flattery or declarations of strong feelings very early on.
  • Anger or hostility when you set boundaries or decline something.
  • Requests for explicit photos or videos.

If any of these apply, stop the conversation and report the profile. You can block and report any user directly from their profile in the app.

Reporting and blocking

You can block or report any user directly from their profile in the app. Reports are reviewed by our team. We take all reports seriously and will take action - up to and including permanently banning accounts - where our policies have been breached.

If you would prefer to report something to us directly, email safety@mingle.ie. For urgent safety concerns, contact the Gardaí or emergency services first.

Child safety

Mingle Meetup IRL is strictly for adults, and we have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including any form of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This is one of the most serious violations possible on our app.

  • Mingle Meetup IRL is only for people aged 18 and over. Anyone under 18 is not permitted to use the app.
  • We prohibit any content, message, or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers a minor - including grooming, solicitation, or the sharing of child sexual abuse material.
  • Any depiction of a minor in a sexually explicit context is illegal and strictly forbidden.

When we become aware of CSAE or CSAM, we act immediately - removing the content, permanently banning the accounts involved, and reporting to Hotline.ie, An Garda Síochána, and, where applicable, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

To report a concern involving a minor or any child-safety issue, use the in-app report tool on any profile or message, or contact our child-safety team directly at safety@mingle.ie. These reports are treated as our highest priority and handled confidentially. Our full child safety standards are set out in the Community Guidelines.

If something goes wrong

Our commitment

We are committed to making Mingle Meetup IRL a safe and respectful app. This means enforcing our Terms & Conditions robustly, acting on reports promptly, and continuing to improve our safety features over time. If you have suggestions for how we can do better, we genuinely want to hear them at safety@mingle.ie.

Every report submitted through the app is reviewed by our team. Where we find a breach of our policies, we act - whether that means removing content, issuing a warning, or permanently banning an account. We do not tolerate harassment, fake profiles, or any behaviour that puts our users at risk.

We also recognise that safety on an app like Mingle Meetup IRL is not just about responding to problems - it is about building an environment where people feel comfortable in the first place. That means giving users clear controls over who can contact them, making it easy to block and report, and being transparent about how we handle concerns.

Safety is not a feature - it is the foundation everything else is built on. We take that seriously.
